At the 2016 Boston Salesforce World Tour, I received the #AwesomeAdmin award from Salesforce for my contributions to the community via social media, in the Success Community and via my blog. Here’s a link to the recorded pre-show ceremony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYqS1_aG_3Q
Here it is…

Hi Jennifer – congratulations on your awards and a very informative blog! I’ve had some SalesForce experience, would like to get more and become certified. However, although I’ve listed myself as a SalesForce “generalist” (Learned/used it on a temp assignment recording sales leads), everyone seems to want certified. I’ve had years of database experience in a number of areas; and I just can’t afford the SalesForce courses on my own. Any suggestions for an experienced admin seeking work to find an employer who might send me for cert?
Thank you – Joanne (also Boston native, living in NH)

There are some companies who will hire non-certified administrator who have the experience they are looking for. Many companies will pay for their employees to get the needed certifications as part of career development. My current and previous employers did, esp. if certifications are desired for those positions. You need to have thia conversation with the specific company to understand their policies.

Hi there! I’m Andy, a Salesforce Admin in the UK. Can I ask a quick question about your flow for deactivating Community Partner users? Firstly, thanks for sharing it! I wondered what the reason was for updating the email, username, nickname etc by adding ‘deactivated’ to them? Is this best practice, or just part of a specific use-case you had? I have 500 to deactivate, so wanted to consider whether I should change their details once deactivated?

The username is the most important for adding deactivated or something to make it unique if you allow the same user to register again and if the username already exists, the registration will fail.
