Winter ’19 Salesforce Lightning Experience Highlights


The list of Winter ’19 features below apply to Salesforce Lightning Experience only.

There are additional Winter ’19 features available to Salesforce Classic onlySalesforce Lightning Experience and ClassicCommunity Enhancements, Other Enhancements in the Winter ’19 Release Highlights post.

Note: These features are not listed in any specific order.

1.Issues Sales Team may encounter in Lightning

2. User can update the density of the UI. “Compact” option shows the UI with the label and data on the same line, fits 30% more fields on the page. The “Comfy” option shows the UI with the label above the associated data.

3. Quick Text enhancements:

a. Create folders for quick texts to share with others. Note: The user must have Create permissions on the object.

b. Add quick texts to tasks and events. Note: users need Read permission on the quick text object. Or users with Create, Edit, and Delete access can create and manage their own quick text.

c. Add quick texts to Knowledge articles

d. Add quick texts to chats

4. Assign a new owner to up to 200 leads, cases, or custom objects at one time, via the page-level action menu in a list view, related list or in Related List Quick Links.

5. Ability to search within a list view.

6. Ability to share list views. To share public list views, the user needs the Manage Public List Views permission. To share custom list views, the user needs the Create and Customize List Views permission.

7. Have components run as a background utility items run invisibly in the utility bar by implementing a component with the lightning:backgroundUtilityItem interface.

8. Display welcome mat the first time users log into Lightning starting in the end of August 2018. Admins can turn off or customize the welcome information.

9. Learn why users are switching back to Classic. Note: Chatter must be enabled. Admins can use the default feedback question or configure their own, select how often the form appears and which public Chatter group to store the feedback.

10. [BETA] Using the Lightning Experience Configuration Converter, easily move custom, standard, and global actions from the Quick Actions in the Salesforce Classic Publisher section to the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section.

11. Now detail buttons are converted as links instead of buttons in the Lightning Experience Configuration Converter.

12.In the Lightning Usage App, you can now view more metrics, including page performance by browser and generate reports using the Lightning Usage App objects.

13. Users can use Shift+w keyboard shortcut to close all unpinned tabs at once in console apps.

14. External objects now available in the Lightning console.

15. You can use Visualforce in console apps to override new, edit, view, tab, list, and clone as you were able to in Classic.

16. Users can edit the console navigation from the menu.

17. Search for the task subject and further filter for the predefined subject “Call” in the predefined subject.


18. Forecasting enhancements with enterprise territory management:

a. Forecast opportunity revenue by territory and by role.

b. Forecast sales by territory

19. Ability to add multiple account team members simultaneously, instead of one by one

20. Use quick filters to further refine your campaign member and campaign influence related list view. Note: quick filters only persist throughout your current session. They cannot be saved or shared.

21. Reps can now choose to keep the previous opportunity team together when an opportunity is transferred to a new owner as well as let the previous owner retain read/write access after the switch.

22. Reps can more quickly find their opportunities by using my territory opportunities or my territory team’s opportunities. Additionally, you can filter opportunity reports by territory as well.


23. You can now trigger territory assignment on account update. No more switching back to Classic to select Evaluate this account against territory rules on save on the account edit page.

24. You can see indicators of a bounced email address on a lead,  contact or person account.

25. See when (first and last opened) and if the customer opens an email from your company. You can honor a customer’s request to not track if and when they open email that reps send through Salesforce.


26. Increase your reps’ productivity by giving them the option to add quick texts in emails.

27. Ability to add attachments to a Lightning email template.

28. Record important calls directly from the Lightning Dialer call panel.

29. Reps can use place Lightning Dialer calls with their desk or mobile phone using the Call Bridge feature, using a separate business line.

31. [BETA] Reps can schedule daily, weekly, monthly, or other recurring events in Lightning Experience and the Salesforce app.

32. Create folders for macros and share them with users.

33. Customers who want to interact with support via text message or Facebook Messenger. Customer service reps use LiveMessage in Lightning Experience to interact with them. For more information on configuration, review the release notes.

34. Customer service reps can insert images in emails from Salesforce Files, from web URLs or by copying and pasting images from the clipboard.

35. Customer service reps can use the power of Visualforce email templates in Lightning.

36. Omni-Channel supervisors can get a sneak peek into what a customer service rep is typing before sending a message with the agent sneak peek feature and what a customers are typing before they hit send with the customer sneak peek.

37. Search for reports, dashboards, and folders directly from the reports or dashboards tab.

38. Chatter posts in process are saved in the My Drafts tab.

39. Provide a public link to share folders to give access to multiple files.

40. Display components in a Lightning page based on user permissions.

41. See approval requests assigned to users and their queues in Lightning as they can in Classic.

42. Configure flows for use in standard navigation apps using the Lightning Flow for Service. Just like you configure the Guided Action List component in Lightning App Builder with the Guided Action List component, just like you configure it for console apps.

43. Enable the org setting “Stricter Content Security Policy (CSP),” which prohibits the use of unsafe-inline for script-src to mitigate the risk of cross-site scripting attacks. Previously, this was a critical update.

44. Ability to create and update field sets that are referenced in a visualforce page

45. To determine which VF pages to migrate to Lightning Experience, use the data in the new VF Access Metrics fields ProfileId and LogDate.

  1. Hi Jenny,
    Not sure if this is the best place to contact you, but I am hoping you can give me some advice about the following.
    I want to setup a configuration object or custom metadata type.
    Let’s say 3 fields called Region, Amount and Contract Signer.
    This should be used to set the one who is listed as the one who signs the contract one our end of the business.
    What would be the best way to implement the if region = a and amount =a then signer = a
    I am struggling to simply compare this without do a concatenate of the fields.
    This is just an example. My goal is to maintain the variables in my org in 1 place.
    Btw Great fan of your blog.
